Hot off the heels of our two outdoor productions in Malvern's Central Park, we're excited to announce the cast for our next 2026 production—Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Gary Abrahams at fortyfivedownstairs opening this May.

About the Cast

Aisha Aidara — Eurydice

Aisha Aidara trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).

Her theatre credits include So Young (Outhouse Theatre Company), Emerald City (Ensemble Theatre), Death of a Salesman and A Christmas Carol (GWB Entertainment), Hamlet and Julius Caesar (Melbourne Shakespeare Company), and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Michael Cassel Group).

Film credits include The Mongoose, and television credits include Neighbours.

Tomáš Kantor — Orpheus

Tomáš Kantor is a multidisciplinary performing artist from Melbourne. They trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London before completing their BFA at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2019. Tomáš has been celebrated for their work onstage, notably as ‘Toby Darling’ in The Inheritance (fortyfivedownstairs), ‘Lost Boy’ in Watershed (Opera Australia), and ‘Feste’ in Twelfth Night (Bell Shakespeare). They star in the critically acclaimed cabaret SUGAR (Bullet Heart Club), which has toured globally. Later this year, Tomáš will perform as ‘Freddy Honeychurch’ in A Room With A View (Belvoir/Melbourne Theatre Company). Recent credits include: TRUTH (Malthouse Theatre), Slap. Bang. Kiss. (Melbourne Theatre Company), Fangirls (Belvoir), West Side Story (Opera Australia/GWB), The Lovers (Bell Shakespeare), Things I Know To Be True (Theatre Works), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Hayes Theatre Company), The Divine Miss Bette (Darlinghurst Theatre Company), and Meow Meow's Pandemonium (MSO/Arts Centre).

John Voce — Father

John trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, and has been working as an actor, voice artist, director and comedy improviser for over forty years.

Film includes Anaconda, Mr. Irrelevant, Crush, A Waste Of Shame, Penelope and Witches of Blackwood. TV includes Goolagong, The Chaplain (both ABC), Dr Who, Jonathan Creek, Miranda, The Great Train Robbery, Doctors, Holby City (BBC), two appearances in Downton Abbey, Grantchester, Primeval (ITV), Sons of Liberty (The History Channel), Neighbours, and The Clearing.

Early theatre includes Merrily We Roll Along (Cambridge Arts and London Bloomsbury Theatre) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Globe Players Tour). More recent theatre work includes Romeo and Juliet (Melbourne Shakespeare Company), Fawlty Towers Live (Australia-Wide Tour), Calendar Girls (The Athenaeum) and Car Crash (The Butterfly Club).

As an improviser John represented the UK three times at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival, has appeared in countless shows in London and regional UK, and performed in the sell-out show Return of the Secret Seven, here at MICF. John has also narrated almost sixty audiobooks.

John is proudly represented by Ian White Management.

Joshua Gordon — A Stone

Born and raised in Naarm/Melbourne, Joshua is a classically trained actor/singer/dancer who’s grown up on the stage and screen. A graduate of The Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music Theatre), Joshua was the honoured recipient of the ‘Dr. Andrew McAliece and Dr Richard Simmie Award’ 2020, and the ‘Ron and Margaret Dobell Foundation Industry Award’ 2021. 

Since graduating, his credits include The Who’s Tommy (VO), the Australian Tour of Mary Poppins (Michael Cassel Group & Cameron Mackintosh), Twelfth Night (Melbourne Shakespeare Company), Spark (Theatre Works) and The Producers (Josh Robson Productions & Hayes Theatre Co). Most recently he completed the 40th Australian Anniversary Tour of CATS. Joshua is thrilled to be returning to MSC in their production of Eurydice with this wonderful team of storytellers at fortyfivedownstairs.

Fran Sweeney-Nash — A Stone

Fran Sweeney-Nash is an actor and theatre maker living and working on Wurundjeri and Bunurong Country. They value community engaged practices, queer dramaturgies and find great joy working in collaboration. Fran is excited by theatre's ability to bring people together through embodied storytelling. They delight in wacky and wonderful characters and worlds of myth and folklore: fools, witches, gods, faeries, enchanted forests, haunted houses and underworlds. 

Fran has been nominated for a Green Room Award for Best Production (“Trophy Boys”) and has appeared on the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Drama and Theatre Studies playlists twice (“Cactus” and “Trophy Boys”). Recent works include “Trophy Boys” (National Tour), “This is a Self-Portrait” (Testing Grounds), “Nowhere Gradually” (Science Gallery Melbourne), “Cactus” (La Mama), “The Peach Blossom Fan” (Victorian College of the Arts), “WORMS” (MUSE Festival), “Seven Seconds” (MUSE Festival) and “Land” (St Martins Youth Arts Centre). Fran completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2024. 

Miles Paras — A Stone

Miles is a veteran actor, a 1995 WAAPA Theatre alumna. She has expansive work in all platforms; TV series, TVCs, web-series, film and theatre. Notable TV guest roles in Jack Irish, Wentworth, WildSide, Blue Heelers, Water Rats, Beech is Back (The Bill spin-off series). Stage work excites her the most for its exponential immediacy with fellow creatives and its organic connection to the live audience. In this new era of heightened digital implementation, there is a greater need to uphold authentic creative work. We all have a responsibility to honouring and living up to the truest form of storytelling. Miles is very excited to be working with Melbourne Shakespeare Company.

Devon Braithwaite — Hades/Lord of the Underworld

Born in South Africa, Devon studied with Diverse Choreography (Dubai), The Boston Conservatory (USA), and Laine Theatre Arts (London), where he received the Eileen Rose Musical Theatre Cup. 

Most recently, Devon appeared as Kerchak in the premier Australian production of Disney's "Tarzan: The Musical" (James Terry Collective). Further credits include “Hadestown” (OA/Jones Theatrical) as worker/Cover Hades and fight captain, Fred Casely in “Chicago” (XRoads Live), the original Australian Cast of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” (Global Creatures) as Ensemble/Cover Lautrec/Santiago; “Chess: The Musical” (Storeyboard Ent.); Prinz Abdullah in “Aladdin” (Disney Theatricals, Germany); and Ensemble/Cover Eddie in the International Tour of “Mamma Mia” (NGM). Devon also appeared in the original London Palladium premiere of “Eugenius!” and “The Hired Man” at Cadogan Hall. Further theatrical credits include two Pantomimes for QDOS Entertainment (now XRoads Live) “Peter Pan” (Dir. Jonathan Kiley) and “Peter Pan” (Dir. Tudor Davis)

Devon is an up-and-coming voiceover artist whose work includes full-length audiobooks and short-form sleep stories. He also lends his voice to digital content creation, engaging audiences across multiple social media platforms. 

Television includes: “Sports Relief” (BBC); and “Saturday Night Takeaway” (ITV). He is immensely thankful to his friends, family, and teachers for their unwavering support. Devon is represented by T&E Management.
